Hidden Gardens of Bucharest
MZCH #Hidden Gardens of Bucharest - autumn studios 2022-23 is built around applied research carried out within the design studio at UAUIM, led by Ștefan Simion, Emil Burbea-Milescu, and Cristi Borcan. Over the course of a study cycle—Years II–III (2022–2024)—the studio proposed a rediscovery of the spaces hidden within Bucharest’s urban blocks and the imagining of possible shared gardens, as a pretext for creating convivial spaces with a strong community-oriented vocation. The students’ projects sought to answer the question: “How can the unbuilt spaces inside central urban blocks be activated so that they become spatial, green, recreational, and even small-scale food-production resources for the wider community?”
